The article below provides instructions on how to:

  • change your password if you are the User of ConnectID Service
  • reset your password (actually: ask for reset) if you are the User of ConnectID Service
  • reset someone's password if you are the Administrator of ConnectID Service

Both changing your password and resetting it is done differently for different types of account that you use to access Admin Console (ConnectID Service). Therefore you need to start by determining which type of account you hold.

  1. standard ConnectID Service account
This applies to the majority of cases. Standard account ends with @fifaconnect.onmicrosoft.com.
  2. personal Microsoft ID account
An example may be an account ending with @gmail.com. Addresses ending with @makingwaves.pl are also private.
  3. domain account
An example is an e-mail address ending with @makingwaves.com. Such an account is fully managed by your IT and you need to contact them, if you need to reset or change your password.

Troubleshooting/common mistakes

Trying to use option "Register for Password Reset"

Important: in case you realize that you don't remember your password anymore, but can still access Admin Console, you might want to use option "Register for Password Reset" available on your user profile in Azure: https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/profile/Default.aspx.

This will not work.

  • if you click "Register for a Password Reset"

  • you will see the following message

Choosing "personal account" instead of "work or school account"

If you choose the wrong type of account on the screen below, the process will not be successful.

If you use account created in ConnectID Service (the most common type, name ending with @fifaconnect.onmicrosoft.com), but choose "Personal account", the end result will be the following:

  1. choose "Personal account"  while holding ConnectID Service account
  2. choose "I forgot my password"
  3. enter your ConnectID Service account (john.smith@fifaconnect.onmicrosoft.com) which is NOT a personal account and press "Next"
  4. you won't be able to complete the process and leave the screen below
